Orange Dreamsicle Cake

If you love the taste of orange creamsicles you'll love this cake! Makes an easy dessert the kids will love as well and ask for all the time. Just like eating a orange dreamsicle ice cream bar, BUT in a cake form, check it out for yourself and leave a comment for others as well if you try this recipe.

Ingredients:

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box orange cake mix
1 (3 ounce) box orange Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
1 (3 1/2 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip
(if you don't like cool whip, you can always serve with vanilla icecream on top) Or

your favorite Vanilla frosting :)

Directions:

Set out Cool Whip to thaw. Prepare cake mix according to directions for a 9x13 pan,. After the cake is done and you bring out of oven, poke holes throughout the cake with a fork. Prepare Orange jello with 1 cup of boiling water and pour over the cake. Allow to cool in pan for 30 minutes. In a large mixing bowl, mix together with hand mixer (or other) instant vanilla pudding with 1 cup milk. Stir in orange and vanilla extracts, mix well. Fold in Cool whip Spread over the cake and chill for 2 to 3 hours before serving.

Note:

One thing I did want to mention to you is that I did the one in the photo with Two round cake pans, which is why you see 4 thin layers. I did just post the sheet cake to make it easier for every one trying it at home If you want the layers, do the cakes in two round cake pans and each one will have to be halved. Wait till they cool completely before cutting them from the side. You should then have 4 total, also with the layers, you CANT use the cool whip (unless you want it just for the top, the
layers need a thicker frosting to be able to 'keep the layers together' buttercream frosting is your best choice , you can always add a dab of orange coloring for the orange effect you DONT have to do 4 layers , if cutting each is too much of a pain two layers with frosting inbetween would look lovely as well.
