6 Freaky Fast Food Creations

Your appetite is about to be attacked by zombies and vampires. I'm not talking about the children in plastic masks ringing your doorbell on Halloween night. I'm referring to the bowls of Snickers, Smarties, and other sugary snacks that will inevitably show up in your home today.
My advice: Indulge. In moderation, of course. And then focus your attention on the real food monsters among us. Every year, the mad scientists of the food industry gather in their creepy labs (or, possibly, boardrooms) to create new disguises for nutritionally inferior fare. In the past, that amounted to an extra patty on your burger or some cheese stuffed into your pizza crust. But as these tricks started becoming commonplace, the food industry began resorting to increasingly crazier creations. These are the strange, mutilated, dangerous monsters I call "Frankenfoods."
Below you’ll find a list of the most frightening of these freaky foods, courtesy of the new and completely updated Eat This, Not That! 2013 Edition. Be warned: Not only are these menu items a waste of your money, but eating them may elicit blood-curdling screams when you step on the bathroom scale.

#6: Scariest Chicken Dish

Pizza Hut Garlic Parmesan Bone-Out Wings (6 wings)

57 g fat (10.5 g saturated)

Ever seen a chicken without bones in its wings? Of course not. Mother Nature put them there for a reason, and it wasn’t so multinational food corporations could go yanking them out for their own twisted purposes. Not only are these freakish “bone-out” wings just plain weird, but thanks to a generous coating of creamy sauce and a layer of greasy breading, they have more than three times as many calories as the Hut’s Traditional All-American Wings. They may not have their own bones, but they’ll stick to yours in the worst way.

SPINE-CHILLING SELECTIONS! From frightening amounts of fat to sinister doses of sodium, there are some nerve-racking nutritional facts lurking behind the walls of your favorite chain. Be a smart diner and don’t fall prey to the 8 Scariest Restaurant Meals in America.

Halloween History

To take and return to more yummy halloween treats click the banner:

Here you can take a few minutes and read up on the history of Halloween of how it got started as well as the meaning of this holiday.

What is Halloween?

Halloween is a celebration in mainly North America and Ireland on the 31st of October, the day before All Saints, which traditionally revolves around themes of the super natural.

Why is Halloween Important?

It is important mainly from a traditional aspect and fun aspect for those in North America. Modern celebrations do not have a very religious overtone; it is a time for being a little bit silly.
Commercial aspects - Halloween , as with many themed days, has plenty of commercial flavour, for example the selling of halloween themed items.
Cultural aspects -Halloween can be thought of as quite a creative time. Spooky and supernatural themes are expressed in such things as costumes, art and music. Some pagans object to the festival for the way ancient traditions are severely altered. Other pagans are glad that some form of the traditions continue.

News about Halloween

Halloween is usually only in the press during the day or days leading up to the 31st of October. On occasion there are dramatic events occuring that are coincidently spooky or dramatic.

How to Chop an Onion in Four Easy Steps

Whether you're making a sandwich or cooking dinner, there's a good chance that you may be chopping up onions for added flavor.
These wrapped wonders are not only good for cooking, but also provide natural health benefits!
Here are tips on how to chop an onion in four easy steps from expert cook Ken Haedrich.
  1. Select a sharp chef's knife. Before you begin, peel off as many layers of papery skin as you can, the better to make your first cut without your knife glancing off the surface. Pull off any hairy roots, too. They have an unappetizing way of ending up where they shouldn't. Place the onion on its side on a chopping board. Hold your knife comfortably, with your forefinger running down one side of the blade and your thumb pressed against the opposite side. With one fell swoop, slide the knife down and away from you, slicing off the top half inch of the onion. (If your knife isn't particularly sharp, first pierce the surface of the onion with the tip of your knife so the blade has a starting notch.)
  2. Turn the onion so it rests on the newly cut flat surface. Starting at the center of the root end, slice the onion in half. Peel off any remaining skin.
  3. Rest half the onion on its largest flat surface, root end pointing away from you. Working from the far edge of the onion toward your body, slice down through the onion, leaving about 1/2 inch between each cut. Do not, however, slice through the onion at the root end. (An intact root end keeps the onion from falling apart.)
  4. Rotate the onion so the end cut faces your knife blade. Then make 1/2-inch cuts perpendicular to the first set of cuts. The onion will fall apart into neat, 1/2-inch dice. Discard root. Repeat with the other half.
